COVID-19 Update (1/1/2022)
Giving Song Guidelines and Protocols
We continue to consult current CDC guidelines, research, state and city recommendations, local chamber of commerce, and our national music therapy association and music therapy community at large.
Please know that the safety of our clients, therapists, and interns are of utmost importance and these guidelines are in an effort to maintain a safe and healthy environment in which to provide quality and effective music therapy services. Thank you in advance for your compliance with the following protocols.
What if I test positive for COVID? If you have tested positive for COVID please contact your clinician as soon as possible via email or by phone AND email info@givingsong.org. We ask that all clients and clinicians who test positive allow 10 days from your first positive test (day 0) before attending therapy sessions.
What if I have close contact with another individual confirmed with COVID? In this instance you may attend therapy sessions after a negative COVID test is received between days 5-7 after known exposure OR following 10 days without symptoms. For clarification on what constitutes close contact, please refer to the local Boone County Health and Human services website.
Safety Procedures:
● In-person therapy: We are continuing to offer in-person therapy at our wellness center, client homes, and in community facilities with precautions. At our therapy center we offer in-person therapy for individuals and small groups.
● Teletherapy: We continue to offer teletherapy services within the state of
Missouri and other states.
● Masks: All therapists and interns are required to wear masks (cloth or single use). All of our clinicians are vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine and also wear a mask when with clients and when together in the clinic. All clients and caregivers are asked to wear a mask at all times when in the wellness center or in contact with a therapist or intern. We will have single use masks available for clients, families, and caregivers that do not have their own.
● Social distancing: We ask all therapists, staff, clients, and caregivers to be mindful of social distancing during their time at the Giving Song Wellness Center. Recommendations are 6 feet.
● Stay home if sick: If you have a fever or are otherwise exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms we ask that you stay home and watch your symptoms closely. If you have even a slight concern we ask that you reschedule your therapy session until you are feeling better. This request is directly from the Centers for Disease Control. We ask that you take the temperature of everyone coming to the center prior to your scheduled therapy (ideally an hour or less in advance of your session). You will NOT be charged for canceling late due to health concerns. Thank you in advance for complying with this guideline.
● Hospitality is open: The hospitality room of the Giving Song Wellness Center is open for families and clients as they wait. We ask that you maintain appropriate distance from other individuals. We also request that all persons (age 5 and above) in the center be wearing a mask, if at all possible.
● Capacity: We do our best to schedule clients in such a manner where we do not have a high capacity in the wellness center at one time. We ask that you come at your scheduled time.
● Hand washing: All clients (if appropriate and feasible) are asked to wash their hands before and after therapy services. All therapists, interns, and staff will also wash hands before and after each therapy session. Clients and families are welcome to wash their hands in the public restroom in the hall. For clients that do not want or are unable to wash hands due to sensitivities we will have sensitive skin wipes available. We also have hand sanitizer available in the common areas.
● Cleaning: Therapists and interns will clean instruments with an alcohol-based cleaner or lysol/clorox wipes and give time to dry between clients. Therapists and interns are also required to wipe off door handles, sink handles, countertops, lightswitches, and any other shared surfaces multiple times a day with alcohol-based sanitizing spray or lysol/clorox wipes.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding our COVID-19 policies, please contact us at 573-303-5772 or via email at info@givingsong.org.
Thank you in advance for your compliance with these measures in an effort to keep you, other clients, and our staff safe as we continue to bring music therapy services to our community.
Wishing you all health and joy now and always,
Giving Song Wellness Team
